London Easter travel: Bank Holiday set for chaos as transport network grinds to a halt

Londoners will face travel chaos over Easter as thousands of tourists descend on the capital amid Tube station closures, train cancellations and road works.

Parts of major Tube lines including the Circle, District, Hammersmith and City and Metropolitan lines will be closed between Good Friday (April 14) and Easter Monday (April 17), Transport for London have revealed.

The entire Victoria line will be shut off from 3am on Easter Sunday until Tuesday April 18.

Services will be replaced by buses.

Elsewhere, Whitechapel station will be completely closed throughout the weekend.

Overground services will be cancelled between several major travel hubs while Southeastern Rail services will not stop at a number of central London stations.

Alternative route: Londoners will be forced to use replacement buses (Alex Lentati)

London Underground

No Circle line service between Hammersmith and Aldgate via King's Cross.

No Hammersmith & City line service between Liverpool Street and Barking.

No District line service between Aldgate East and West Ham.

Line closures: Several lines will be affected (TfL)

No Metropolitan line services between Wembley Park and Northwood/Uxbridge.

No Victoria line service on Easter Sunday and Monday.

Walthamstow Central - Blackhorse Road - Tottenham Hale - Seven Sisters - Manor House - Finsbury Park

Seven Sisters - Manor House - Finsbury Park - Holloway Road (northbound only) - Highbury & Islington – Angel

Victoria - Pimlico - Vauxhall - Stockwell – Brixton

Extra Piccadilly line trains will run between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge

Replacement buses will run between: Camden Road - Holloway Road (for Caledonian Road & Barnsbury) - Highbury & Islington - Canonbury - Dalston Junction (for Dalston Kingsland) - Hackey Central - Homerton - Hackney Wick – Stratford.

Dalston Kingsland - Dalston Junction - Haggerston - Hoxton - Shoreditch High Street - Whitechapel – Shadwell

Southeastern

No trains will run from Cannon Street, Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill and Westcombe Park.

No trains will run from Charing Cross Waterloo East, London Bridge, Cannon Street, Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill and Westcombe Park on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

A rail replacement service will run between New Cross and Charlton calling at Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill and Westcombe Park.
