My London: Naomi Campbell

Home is…

Where the heart is. I’m currently based in New York.

Favourite hotel?

I can’t give away my secrets, but what I will say is what I look for in a great hotel is service — somewhere that feels like a home from home. It helps if there is a great spa and an amazing gym.

What’s your London secret?

Bus, taxi or Tube?

If I were a tourist I’d say get on the Tube, as that’s where you see and hear the real London.

If you could buy any building in London and live there, which would it be?

There is such incredible architecture in this city it’s too hard for me to choose.

What makes someone a Londoner?

Grit, determination and a sense of community.

Which is your favourite London pub or club?

I don’t go to pubs nor do I drink alcohol. I prefer to go to dinner and private events. I tend to go out and dance away from the cities I work in.

Where do you go to let your hair down?

I love to just walk around and explore the city, try out new restaurants, and spend time with the people I love.

Who do you call when you want to have fun in London?

My chosen family: Kate [Moss], Fat Tony, and my brother Edward [Enninful].

Who is your hero?

Nelson Mandela (Parliament Square statue, below). I learned everything about community and service from him.

Last play you saw?

People, Places & Things (below), by Duncan Macmillan. I went with Fat Tony. It starred an awesome actress called Denise Gough and it was great.

What are you up to at the moment for work?

I’m currently working with Equinox as the muse for their new hotel brand. The first one opens in New York this summer. The campaign was shot by Showstudio’s Nick Knight, who I have worked with since 1987 — that’s a long London relationship.
