Commuters are facing a morning of travel disruption on the Tube and London Overground after the capital was hit by ferocious winds.

Powerful winds swept across London and the south east on Thursday, prompting forecasters to issue a yellow weather warning.

The Met Office said flying debris could pose “danger to life” and may damage buildings as they warned of ferocious winds battering London and the south-east on Thursday morning.

In the early hours, obstructions on the tracks sparked severe delays on the London Overground and Northern line.

The Overground was suspended between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction due to obstructions and the Northern Line was halted between Golders Green and Edgware.

The Victoria Line was also struck with severe delays after a broken track at Green Park shut down the service in the early hours.

Trains were halted between Kings Cross and Brixton, just after 5.30am on Thursday, as engineers worked to fix the track fault.
