The top 20 nurseries in London have been named based on factors like outdoor spaces, facilities, and food and nutrition. Leading review site Day Nurseries has compiled the list after parents and carers took to the site to praise warm and welcoming staff and environments of the nurseries.

The development of the children sent to these places flourished, some parents reported. Others have described the choice to send their children to the nurseries as the best decision and highlighted reassuring experiences.

Suburban havens Teddington, Eltham and Harrow were home to the top three nurseries in the capital. Reviews manager at daynurseries.co.uk, Amanda Hopkins, shared her congratulations and described the ranking as a huge achievement.

She said: “Our award is valuable recognition from parents and carers that [these nurseries are] offering their children an excellent standard of care and a stimulating environment.” Ms Hopkins concluded: “We hope these awards give parents that much-needed guidance in choosing the right nursery for their child.”

Buttercups at Teddington was rated the best nursery in London. It's a homely nursery located right on Teddington High Street and features a full-sized soft play area and is planning to expand into the building next door. Day Nursery said: "The team encourage children to learn through play. This allows them to be led by their natural curiosity, promoting development, confidence and independence. The team adopt a variety of teaching approaches including Montessori and HighScope and they incorporate as much time as possible to engage with nature and the great outdoors."

Crafty Wizards World Pre-School in Eltham bagged the second spot. It is located on Eltham High Street and has plenty of arts and craft supplies as well as an out door area. Day Nursery said: "Craft Wizards World provide children with a magical learning experience, providing a range of activities and concepts that promote learning, safety and well-being.

"Staff work to offer children structure and routine while helping to aid their learning and development. Children can benefit from an outdoor play area, soft play frame, interactive touch screen tilt table and lightbox, in addition to smaller visual aids and resources."

The third spot was taken by Growing Stars Nursery in Harrow. This nursery sits on Claremont Road and look after kids from two to five years old with high qualified teachers. Day Nursery said: "They have highly qualified teachers who offer lots of new learning opportunities each day within a safe and enabling learning environment."

Adding: "Each child has their own individual key worker who will observe and plan their next steps of development following the early year's foundation stage (EYFS) standards. The nursery also has an interactive online parents portal which allows daily contact with the nursery team."

One parent who send their child to Growing Stars Nursery called Caroline said: “Such a beautiful nursery with lots of outdoor space!
