There have been further landslips and an area of Isle of Wight woodland has been closed, in East Cowes.

An area of Springhill Woods has been shut by the Isle of Wight Council.

Tape is blocking footpaths and signs read 'path closed'.

Cllr Karl Love said the area will remain shut until several trees have been made safe.

He said: "Hopefully it will be open again soon but please stay out of the woods behind the toilets leading to Castle Point."

Parts of the town's woodland and Esplanade have been blocked since a land fall, around a decade ago.

Fallen trees still hang over the  route, which used to be drivable, and over the sea wall.

In January, cracks appeared on a path in the woods near the swing tree, which is popular among young people.

Signs appeared on the top footpath of Woodland Circle Walk, saying 'danger do not enter'.

In recent years, a community project has seen improvements on the now pedestrian-only seafront area, with a wall and benches installed.
