Uber Driver Takes Passenger On 90-Minute Detour After She Fell Asleep On Journey Home
A five minute Uber ride became a 90 minute trip around north London for one woman when a driver seemingly took advantage of the fact she fell asleep in his car.
Comedian Hannah Warman decided to splash out on an Uber home from a party in Stoke Newington on Sunday night.
But what could have been a five minute walk to her nearby home became quite an odyssey when she fell asleep in the Uber that picked her up.

Checking her account the next day, she discovered that the driver had taken her all the way over to Wembley and back, racking up £85 of fees over the course of an hour and a half.
Although she woke up a couple of times during the trip wondering why it was taking so long, she told the Evening Standard that she assumed he had got lost.
Uber provides a map of every journey so it wasn’t until the next day that the full extent of the detour became clear.
After complaining to Uber, Warman has received a full refund but is calling for further investigation to avoid drivers taking advantage of passengers in this way.

An Uber spokesman said: “We are speaking to the licensed driver and the rider to establish exactly what happened and have given the rider a full refund.
“Unlike other transport options Uber’s technology records every trip and sends riders a receipt with a map of the route taken.
“This transparency and accountability means if there is an issue it can be quickly resolved.“
Warman also took to Twitter to share her dismay, posting a screengrab of the route and saying, “When u think "It’s only a 5 min walk but f**k it, I’ll get an uber!” & u fall asleep.”
Her tweet has been shared more than 1,300 times.
