Loose Women wrapped up their pre-election interview series this Wednesday (July 3) with a visit from Stephen Flynn, the SNP's Westminster leader, who shared his thoughts on the upcoming general election.

Today's panel, featuring Kaye Adams, Corrie's Sally Dynevor, Janet Street-Porter, and Denise Welch, heard from Flynn about the uncertainties of politics and his cautious optimism for re-election.

"You never know what the public are going to do" he remarked. "But if you have got confidence in your message..."

Flynn also touched on his personal life, mentioning his young family and ongoing financial responsibilities like a mortgage and nursery fees, regardless of whether he retains or loses his seat.

He continued: "It's a big decision for the public, who they want to represent them, and who they want to give that privilege to," reports the Mirror.

Post-discussion on political matters, the topic shifted to football, with England set to face Switzerland in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

Janet posed a pointed question about football, prompting Flynn to humorously interject: "Don't do it, don't do it."

She pressed on: "You're a member of the tartan army are you going to root for England on Saturday, yes or no?"

Amidst laughter and cheers from the audience, Flynn squinted and chuckled before confessing: "So I don't think politicians are honest enough all of the time, so no I'm not going to root for England."

The audience responded with boos, to which Janet retorted: "But I'm half Welsh and I've managed to root for England."

Flynn chimed in, saying: "Yeah, I can't bring myself as a big Scotland fan to do that I'm afraid."

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV.
