It took Janet Street-Porter just seconds to aim a dig about 'telling the truth' at Rishi Sunak, as the Prime Minister's appearance on Loose Women caused a real stir on Thursday afternoon.

A post on the ITV show's X account previewed the PM's unlikely spot on the daytime programme, with it reading: "This lunchtime The Prime Minister, @RishiSunak will be joining us. We will be speaking to him about the topics that matter the most to you. Throughout the interview, please let us know what you think as we'll be reacting to your comments straight after Rishi's appearance."

Comments quickly came flooding in, as many Loose Women viewers seized the opportunity to have their say; with one replying: "Zero personality. Zero credibility." as another wrote: "When will the election be and has he started packing yet?"

The general reaction to Sunak being on the show was far from favourable and it didn't take long serving panellist Janet long at all to make her feelings known. Rather than keep viewers watching for the interview with the PM, he was in his seat on the panel as soon as the live broadcast started, telling the ladies that his office was 'very excited' about the fact that he'd been given his on personalised Loose Women mug.

Host Kaye Adams was first to ask a question, going for a very obvious one, by asking the Conservative leader if he actually watched Loose Women. As Sunak slightly stuttered on his answer, Janet was heard jibing: "Tell the truth, I know it might be difficult," as her colleague Judi Love urged him to give a 'real' answer rather than a 'political' one.

Eventually answering Kaye's question, he Prime Minister told his interviewers: "On occasion in the back of the office," before adding: "I've done a lot of things in this job, but being here is probably on the more intimidating end."
