Lorraine Kelly was left giggling with embarrassment after her interview with Idris Elba took an accidental X-rated turn.

The Scottish TV presenter said was so sorry for being "naughty and rude" by asking the Luther star about James Bond rumours - and slipping into innuendo that left them both blushing and laughing.

Kelly, 63, said "Look, you keep getting asked about James Bond... can we turn it on its head, because I think you would be an amazing Baddie in James Bond.

"I was going to say I can see you stroking a white pussy but I shouldn't say that because that's naughty and rude and we'll take that out, thank you very much. We won't put that in."

Elba laughed: "It's out there now! I've got it in my head now, the image."

Kelly burst out laughing and blustered: "I'm so sorry! I am so bad. I can't help myself. It's in my head and then it comes out of my mouth! It's our secret right?"

But Elba said: "It's interesting, because the bad guys are just as iconic. But now I'm just excited about being in a meme with you for the rest of our lives. Give me a high five!"

The 50-year-old Black British actor has been linked to the role of James Bond for some time.

But most recently he has said he has been put off the role of spy hero 007 after the rumours he may be taking over from Daniel Craig made him the target of racism.

Elba said: “Essentially, it was a huge compliment that every corner of the world except from some corners, which we will not talk about, were really happy about the idea that I could be considered.

“Those that weren’t happy about the idea made the whole thing disgusting and off-putting, because it became about race. It became about nonsense and I got the brunt of it.”
