David Luiz says that he "loves" Chelsea and wants to stay at the club, as negotiations continue over a new deal.

The Brazilian had looked set to leave the club in the summer, having struggled to nail down a place in Antonio Conte’s back three.

However, new boss Maurizio Sarri has reverted to a back four this season, and Luiz has enjoyed something of a resurgence, regaining his place in the line-up and scoring in the win over Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Luiz, 31, has a deal which runs until the end of this season. Chelsea's usual policy is to only offer players over the age of 30 one-year extensions, but it is believed that Luiz is hoping to secure a longer contract.

“We are still talking, let’s see," Luiz said. "Let’s see what the future brings. I love this club, everybody knows I want to stay.

“I am just trying to enjoy, like every single day, Then, for sure, we will do the best thing for me, for Chelsea, for everybody.”
