Love Island 2018 bags an official launch date

From Digital Spy

Love Island 2018 has an official start date.

On Wednesday (May 23), it was announced on the official ITV2 Twitter account that the fourth series of the ITV2 reality show will broadcast on Monday, June 4.

How fitting.

No time was given for the broadcast, although we assume from previous series it will begin at 9pm.

Indeed, last year's run – which was won by Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay – launched at 9pm on Monday, June 5. Presenter Caroline Flack also previously hinted that the launch date would line up with the start of June, teasing at the start of April that the premiere was "two months" away.

This year's series will also see the contestants banned from smoking in the villa or garden, and will only be allowed to go one-by-one to an allocated smoking area.

"There will be no smoking within the Love Island villa or the main villa garden this year," a spokesperson confirmed to Digital Spy.

It's hoped the measure will shorten the amount of time contestants are pictured smoking in this year's series, as there were several viewer complaints after almost every islander was spotted with a cigarette in their hand during the 2017 run.

Little bit leave it indeed – but bring on June!

Love Island will return to ITV2 on June 4.
