'Love Island' star Amy Hart thinks Jake might be faking Liberty romance for the £50k prize

The true motivations of Jake Cornish have been a hot topic in the Love Island villa this week – and a former contestant thinks he might not be telling the truth.

Amy Hart, who appeared on the 2019 series, told OK! she "doesn't know about Jake" when she was asked whether any of the current Islanders were fake or playing a game to secure the £50,000 prize.

"I'm really worried for Liberty," she confessed.

Cornish has been coupled up with popular contestant Liberty Poole since the very first day of this series and they are the only one of this year's couples to officially declare themselves boyfriend and girlfriend.

However, Cornish has been criticised in recent days for his reticence to say he loved Poole and over concern he is too focused on playing to the cameras.

Despite Hart's worries, she said that viewers should "remember it's a game show" when assessing Cornish's actions.

She added: "I used to get really angry at people for playing a game but then I remembered it's a game show, so they're actually doing the right thing by playing a game.

"There's a cash prize at the end. You don't say to people on Deal or No Deal, 'Oh, you're being a bit tactical there.' It's a game show."

In the teaser clip for Sunday night's episode of Love Island, some of the show's other girls can be seen talking to Poole in the wake of her return from their chat on the terrace and Cornish's declaration of love.

"Do you not think he’s telling you what you want to hear?" asks Chloe Burrows, to which Poole replies: "Is that what you all guys think?"

Hart chose to leave the show voluntarily during the 2019 series, after splitting from dancer Curtis Pritchard after his actions while away from her at Casa Amor.

Earlier this week, she told the Daily Star she believed Burrows and Toby Aromolaran would win the show this year, having reunited after their split earlier in the series.

Hart said: "I’m not sure it was ever malicious with Toby. I think he was just a kid in a sweet shop and he’s realised now that Chloe the one for him.

“They’ve both been worth their weight in gold, so I think they’re going to get the win.”
