Love Island fans convinced Maura Higgins is confirmed for Dancing On Ice

Love Island fans are convinced that Maura Higgins is the latest star to sign up for Dancing on Ice, thanks to a newly-released picture.

The ITV show, which returned from a four-year hiatus in 2018 and continued this year, will be back on our screens in the New Year.

Bosses have been teasing the line-up with a series of Instagram posts.

While speculation over who they are is coming in thick and fast, fans think they've identified who is in one of the snaps:

The close-up picture shows pouty lips, brown hair and tanned skin - and social media users could not help but point out the likeness to Maura.

‘We can’t wait for this celeb to get their skates on…’ the caption read on both Instagram and Twitter.

“Pls can this be Maura,” one person wrote in the comments, while another added: “I’m convinced this is Maura omg.”

Meanwhile, a displeased fan quipped: “For Pete’s sake if it’s someone off Love Island, they are not a ‘celeb’. Maybe we should just call it randoms on ice.”

However, some fans pointed out that the image could actually be EastEnder’s Maisie Smith, who has portrayed Tiffany Butcher on the soap for the last decade.

“I know she is doing it but can't tell if this is her or Maisie Smith from Eastenders,” said one Instagram user, in response to fans convinced the snap is Maura.

So far, Maura’s co-star Amber Gill is one of the top names being tipped for this year’s Dancing On Ice.

Gill was rumoured to be joining the show's line-up thanks to a teaser image showing a curly-haired celeb.

She would be the third islander to step onto the rink, as Kem Cetinay took part in 2018 and Wes Nelson followed in his footsteps this year.

The curly-haired snap could also be dancer Perri Kiely, who first found fame as in Britain's Got Talent troupe Diversity.

He is now 23 and previously took part in a Celebs Go Dating.

Meanwhile, king of the Jungle Joe Swash is thought to be heading onto the ice, after one of the Dancing On Ice teaser pics showed someone with a gold star in their front jacket pocket.

Dancing On Ice will return to ITV next year.
