After all the grafting, it was finally time for the British public to sort the mugs from those 100% their type on paper, as Love Island drew to a close this evening (July 24).

(No, we're not ready to say goodbye either.)

Aside from announcing the winning couple – that's Kem and Amber, by the way (!) – tonight's live final had the nation laughing, crying and screaming in caps lock.

Oh, and replaying a certain GIF of Olivia over and over again.

So, in true Digital Spy fashion, we're here to send off the series with some of the best social media reactions to the conclusion of the ever-brilliant and wonderfully unique Love Island.

Most notable was the fact that the nation was robbed of voting for the one, true couple of Love Island: Chris and Kem. (Sorry, Amber.)

Seriously, is there any way of ITV2 ordering a #Chem spin-off, because we'd be totally down for that. And so would the rest of the UK, by the sounds of it.

Not one to be outdone by her boyfriend, Olivia also got people talking over on social media – and it's probably not for the reason you think.

After the contestants took part in a ceremony that was basically an unofficial wedding, Liv dived into the villa pool with her 'prom dress' still on. And it was, erm... something.

More heartbreaking than watching your favourite couple miss out on winning, though, is having to come to terms with the fact that Love Island is over for a whole year.

We don't want to be over-dramatic here, but people can't cope. Like, at all.

But don't worry – it's not all bad. Love Island will return for a very special reunion episode this Sunday (July 30) at 9pm on ITV2.
