Love Island fans think Joey Essex and Grace Jackson have been together longer than they are letting on. (ITV)

Love Island viewers think they have uncovered the truth about Joey Essex and Grace Jackson's relationship after a telling comment.

The TOWIE star has already revealed he briefly dated bombshell Grace before they both arrived in the villa but fans of the ITV2 dating show think he has slipped up and revealed that they never actually split.

Viewers came to the conclusion after hearing Joey make a comment about the first time he kissed her, as elsewhere another kiss caused drama in a love triangle.

Earlier this week, viewers were shocked to see Joey Essex dump his Love Island partner Samantha Kenny in favour of new bombshell Grace, who he'd previously dated for six weeks. Joey looked shocked to see her arrive in the villa but fans of the show began to throw accusations that he was "acting" when the former couple quickly rekindled their spark.

Now, viewers are sure they have rumbled Joey slipping up with a comment about the first time he kissed Grace.

Viewers are suspicious over when Joey Essex and Grace Jackson first kissed. (ITV)

At the beginning of Wednesday's episode, the pair were shown kissing in bed as Joey told Grace: "I'm glad you're here because our connection is real. I just hope everyone can be happy for us."

He later told Ronnie of Samantha being dumped: "I had to do what I had to do and it's not a nice way to say bye. I had some really fun times with her and I respect her. As long as she was smiling when she left and everyone said she was, that's what matters."

But the controversy kicked off again as Joey spoke to new arrival Wil over the importance of kissing, saying: "The first time I kissed Grace it was game over, I knew she was a bit of me."

Has the TOWIE star been rumbled? (ITV)

One fan commented on X: "“The first time I kissed Grace is was game over”. Just for clarification Joey, was that 3 days ago you’re on about or a year and a half ago when you met the girl??"

Another person wrote: "Joey are you talking about the first time you ever kissed Grace or the first time you kissed her in this villa."

Someone else agreed: "see joey's really giving it away that him and grace were still together before the show."

Another picking up on the comment added: "Joey keeps exposing himself, the first time you kissed grace it was game over did you guys ever break up?"

Meanwhile, there was awkwardness in a love triangle involving another bombshell, Tiffany Leighton, as she turned Ronnie Vint's head away from Harriett Blackmore.

Ronnie chose to spend time with Tiffany and despite promising Harriett he wouldn't kiss her, he went on to do exactly that.

In an awkward exchange the next day, Tiffany told Harriett: "Maybe we're not going to be the closest of people in here and that's fine."

Harriett replied: "Everyone has this perception of me and I'm not like that, I'm a proper girls' girl."

Later, Ronnie brutally ended things with Harriett as he bluntly told her he only had eyes for Tiffany, leaving Harriett blowdrying her eyelashes in the dressing room as she tried to recover from crying.

No sooner had the villa recovered, than two more new arrivals landed - Konnor and Matilda, who picked Omar, Sean, Wil, Grace, Nicole and Mimii to cook them dinner for their first dates.

Love Island airs on ITV1 at 9pm.
