Love Island star Jack Fowler in hospital after he 'could have died' on flight to Dubai

Love Island star Jack Fowler has said he 'could have died' on a flight to Dubai after he was served a curry containing nuts.

The 28-year-old said he informed the flight attendant twice about his allergy but was then served a chicken curry containing cashew nuts, which caused his throat to "immediately" close up and made breathing "extremely difficult".

"This left me with the real possibility of dying on the plane as I knew I needed emergency treatment immediately," he shared with his one million Instagram followers..

"I told the flight supervisor 'If you don't land this plane soon, I will die on this plane'. This then led to the pilot speeding up the journey."

He revealed that he was given five tanks of oxygen and had to use his adrenaline pen (Epi Pen). "Once we landed I was rushed into Dubai's airport hospital where I continued treatment," he added.

The reality TV star, who appeared on Love Island in 2018, posted several pictures of himself receiving treatment on the flight and tagged Emirates airline, stating "it is not good enough".

"I could have died on my flight. Complete negligence from your air host, put me in this state," Fowler expressed on his Instagram story. "Telling me your food doesn't contain nuts when it does. What's it going to take until people take food allergies seriously."

An Emirates spokesperson said: "We are sorry to hear of Mr Fowler's experience and our teams on ground are providing him with all possible assistance. The safety and health of our customers is taken very seriously.

"While Emirates aims to cater to customers with specific needs by offering a variety of special meals that cover medical, dietary, and religious requirements, we cannot guarantee a nut-free inflight environment. We urge travellers with dietary or other medical requirements to check our website and consult their doctor before travel."

In a recent social media post, the reality star and DJ issued a stark warning to all airlines about the importance of safeguarding passengers with severe dietary requirements. "We board your flights and trust the cabin crew to aid us in a safe flight. Take more care," he urged.
