“Love Island USA” Out of the Villa: How 3 of Last Season's Couples Have Been Making It Work for Almost a Year (Exclusive)

Love Island may be known for its steamy moments and romantic interludes, but it's not exactly famous for creating long-lasting couples. And rarely does it see more than one couple per season go the distance.

But that seems to have changed with last summer's installment of Love Island USA on Peacock. Of the four couples who made it to the final days in the villa on season 5, PEOPLE confirms that three of them are going strong.

Winners Hannah Wright, 25, and Marco Donatelli, 23, have been living together in Boca Raton for 10 months and counting. Carmen Kocourek, 23, and Kenzo Nudo, 27, moved to Milwaukee together just last month. And Taylor Smith, 25, and her man, 24-year-old Carston "Bergie" Bergerson (who earned himself even more reality TV fans with his performance earlier this year on season 2 of The Traitors), continue to keep the love alive long-distance but have a well-mapped five-year — make that six-year — plan.

PEOPLE: Have you moved to the same city or are you doing long distance?

Hannah: Right after the show I moved to Boca Raton, Florida, with Marco. We’ve lived together for 10 months and share a Goldendoodle named Guiseppe.

How are you making the relationship work?

Hannah: After winning the show we both had to figure out how to navigate our new lives together. I knew whatever craziness life threw at me I wanted Marco by my side.

Marco: We are making it work by communicating and planning weekly. Each of us has made a list of things we are thankful for and what we bring to the relationship. Figuring out each other's strengths is what makes us the best team possible. The experience of moving in together has been surreal and enjoyable, especially during the holidays and birthdays.

How will you celebrate your one-year anniversary?

Hannah: Honestly we don’t know the exact date of our anniversary because Marco asked me to be his girlfriend on the show and we didn’t know the date. But we are very low-key – we will probably just stay in with a pizza and watch our favorite docuseries.

Marco: I will also celebrate our anniversary by reviewing the vows we made to each other and reflecting on how we have been fulfilling them in our daily routine. I have quickly learned important lessons as a man, a good boyfriend, and a future father: to provide and to love. These two principles have taken our relationship to the next level and prepared me to work towards marriage.

What are your future plans?

Hannah: We like to take things day by day but in the next 4-5 years we would love to buy a house in Pittsburgh and lay down roots to hopefully start a family together. Marco has a lot of family in Pittsburgh and I love the city.

Marco: My future plans include working towards graduation this upcoming semester and continuing my acting career in both commercials and films. I'm embracing the journey of being young and keeping my options open until God leads me to the right path. My lifelong dream has been to work in film and TV, while my scholastic dream is to become a chiropractor. I am diligently working towards both goals. As for Hannah and my relationship, we are focusing on growing together and making adult decisions, from choosing the best grocery store for our budget to deciding which city we want to raise our kids in. We are also both looking for good jobs to meet our needs.

Have you moved to the same city or are you doing long distance?

Kenzo: We just moved in together in May! After Love Island last summer, I moved back to Scottsdale after a year of traveling so we could be in the same city together. This last month we decided to move to Milwaukee, and it's been really nice to have our own little home.

How are you making the relationship work?

Carmen: Last year was a major change for both of us. From going into the villa single and leaving in a serious relationship, to me graduating from college and Kenzo moving, it really felt like we were returning to this completely different, brand new life. With such a sudden change, we really focused on our mental health, making our relationship a priority, and growing ourselves, but together as well.

How will you celebrate your one-year anniversary?

Kenzo: We're both pretty low-key so we'll probably just do something small but special to celebrate our anniversary.

Are you going to watch the new season of Love Island USA

Kenzo: We’re both really excited to watch and support the islanders this year on their journey! Carmen's also the biggest Love Island UK fan so we'll be tandem watching both of them this summer.

What are your future plans?

Carmen: We're excited to continue building our home together and checking off more things on our bucket list. We both have a lot we want to achieve and a lot of places we want to see in our lives and we're just excited to be able to do it all together.

Have you moved to the same city or are you doing long-distance?

Bergie: Taylor and I are currently doing long-distance.

How are you making it work?

Bergie: We are making it work by staying on the same page with our short-term and long-term goals. These goals consist of our relationship, family, career, and personal goals. We Facetime at least two hours every day. We talk about our future together and what we appreciated and learned from our day. We are still continuing to learn more about one another and falling deeper in love every day.

How will you celebrate your one-year anniversary?

Taylor: We have been discussing how we will celebrate our one-year anniversary but have not come to any decisions yet. Anything we do has to align with our goals financially, because Bergie is going to physical therapy school and already looking at student loan options.

Will you watch the new season together?

Taylor: We have also discussed watching the new season together. I am sure we will watch an episode or two a week together, but we’ll fall behind if we try to keep up together. We are going to watch it, but most of the time it we will probably be separate.

What are your future plans?

Taylor: Bergie’s plan is to go back to school this fall and get his doctorate degree in physical therapy while still doing any other small projects that he is able to do, whether it be reality TV or social media. When Bergie gets to his clinicals in the physical therapy program, he plans to do them in Dallas so that we can get a feel of living together for those eight weeks. I currently work in the dermatology field and have aspirations of working in human resources. I’m also doing social media on the side. Our tentative timeline is to be engaged within the next three years, be married in the next five years, and have kids in six years.
