Love Island viewers aren't impressed with Alex (again)

It's finally happened. After weeks of sympathising with Love Island's Alex George, and even endearing ourselves to his terrible sunburn, viewers have officially turned against him.

It had been bubbling up for a while, but his callous ditching of Alexandra Cane – who saved his skin in the last re-coupling – and then choosing her again at recoupling after new Laura turned out to be more interested in new Jack, hasn't gone down well.

In fact, going by Twitter, viewers seem wholly unimpressed with the Dr treating Alexandra as an option – exactly what she told him she didn't want.

But Alexandra's stony-faced reaction to being picked has been received very well by viewers.

We all miss the innocent and playful Alex that wanted a croissant from the Beach Club and had hoped that Casa Amor was a fishing trip with the boys! And that time he thought trainers were pancakes...

Earlier on in the series – which feels like a lifetime ago – Alex had picked Ellie to couple up with, thus saving her from being dumped from the show.

When she finally realised that there was no chemistry or spark between them, she decided to cool things off, and Alex was furious. He also accused her of using him to save herself from being kicked off the island.

And now viewers have accused him of acting the exact same way towards poor Alexandra, but without expecting any repercussions, and they are NOT here for it.

"So basically Dr Alex got MAD at Ellie for going cold on him after they re-coupled and yet has done the exact same thing to Alexandra and he thinks it's fine? Double standards," one tweeted.

Another added: "Remember how angry Alex got at Ellie when she wasn't interested in him anymore, it's legit the exact same situation yet now it's ok to him lol."

Some suggested that Alexandra fancying him has increased Alex's confidence, and now he thinks he's some kind of stud like Adam. Or Sandy at the end of Grease...

Others are starting a petition to get Stormzy on the show to tell Alex he's got too cocky to his red face.

Anything is possible, but we'd prefer if it were Danny Dyer...

Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2.
