The Love Island villa isn't a stranger to drama, by any stretch. But it seems the shady comments are starting to become even more sneaky, and fans aren't missing a moment of it.

On Wednesday's episode (July 17), Molly-Mae Hague made a rather pointed comment that went largely unnoticed by the other Islanders.

When Maura Higgins asked Amber Gill whether she liked the Irish accent, Molly-Mae remarked that the accent was "different" on guys.

Fans took to Twitter to ask whether this was Molly-Mae's way of throwing shade at Maura, who is from County Longford in Ireland.

One said: "Did anyone else hear Maura go to Amber 'so you like the Irish accent then' and Molly Mae goes 'its sounds different on boys' and literally no one noticed hahahahah savage."

Another tweeted: "Molly telling Maura the Irish accent is better from the men #shady but so funny."

Former Love Island contestant Samira Mighty has also weighed in on the atmosphere of this year's show, branding this series' villa "toxic" and admitting she wouldn't know who to trust if she was in there.

Speaking on BBC Radio 1's The Reality Tea Podcast with Raj and Pilar, Samira went on to say that she's been shocked by how some of the girls have treated each other this year, branding them "catty".

"We all had like really good friendships," Samira said. "Even if someone didn't really get along with them, they were still quite good friends with them. I feel like this year, the girls are so catty."

Love Island airs at 9pm on ITV2, and you can catch up on the show via ITV Hub.
