Love Island's Chris Hughes mocked online as he launches water 'infused with his tears'

Chris Hughes has been mocked on social media after announcing his latest venture, with the Love Island star teaming up with Topman to produce his own brand of water, which is “infused” with his tears.

The 22-year-old reality star posted an artistic black and white video to promote the launch, with Chris pouring water on his bare chest before a single tear trickles down his face and into the bottle in the clip.

The words: “Mineral water infused with a Chris Hughes tear” then flashed up on the screen as the voiceover introduced the brand ‘L’eau de Chris’, which funnily enough sounds remarkably similar to ‘ludicrous’.

Chris posted the video to his half a million Twitter followers, writing: “I’m launching my first ever product in partnership with @Topman #LEauDeChris.”

Speaking about the new product, Chris added: “It’s no secret that I shed a few tears on Love Island.

“Since leaving the show, I have been overwhelmed with the incredible love shown by fans of the show.

“Launching my own mineral water, infused with my own tears, is a chance for me to give something special back to those who have supported me since returning from the island.”

The star was instantly bombarded with messages from his confused fans, with many convinced that it was all a joke or an early April Fools:

Chris has directed his fans to a Facebook Live launch on Topman’s social media page tomorrow morning, with the bottle already listed on the site for £2.

Chris has enjoyed unprecedented success since his stint on Love Island over the summer, teaming up with dating app Badoo, filming his own spin-off show with fellow Love Island star Kem Cetinay, and releasing his first rap single, ‘Little Bit Leave It’, with Kem, which debuted at number one on iTunes last week.
