Love Island's Demi Jones blames Luke M for split

While many of the Winter Love Island couples are still going strong (Siannise Fudge and Luke Trotman have just moved in together!), Demi Jones and Luke Mabbott announced their split to the world last month.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the pair had been isolating separately and were locked down at their respective family homes, which is not an ideal situation for any new couple.

And while Luke said in April that they were still talking everyday and trying to make it work, a source told The Sun at the end of May that they decided to call things off romantically.

"It's no huge drama - they're just better off as friends," the insider explained. "They had a good run but they have split for good. There’s been no cheating or drama they just drifted apart - he’s looking forward to lockdown being over and making the most of his new single status."

Interestingly, though, 21-year-old Demi has since told MailOnline that it was mainly Luke's, 25, decision, and that he was putting no effort in with her at all. Blimey. "We've completely called it off now, I think it was brought about more from his behalf than mine, but we're mutual and friendly," she explained.

"With lockdown, it drove us apart and we live so far away from each other. I feel like there wasn't a lot of effort made with communication, so we drifted as a result. It's a shame and bad timing."

Admitting she was left disappointed as Luke opted against making them official, she added, "I had my hopes that he'd ask me once we came out of Love Island but it never really happened. As lockdown went on, little effort was made so it was called off."
