Maya Jama was apparently left in tears earlier this week, as the Casa Amor recoupling caused carnage in the Love Island villa, in scenes that are set to play out on screen on Thursday night.

Since the new series of the ITV show started last month, presenter Maya has largely been absent from the villa, but her return to the plush Majorcan property was confirmed right at the end of Wednesday's episode, when the girls in Casa Amor were informed that they'd soon need to go back into the main villa and decide whether to stay with the boy they left behind or couple up with one of the bombshells.

The lads in the villa will also have to make the same decision and, as all Love Island fans know, the recouplings at the end of Casa Amor have a real habit of stirring up trouble. Over the years, tempers have flared in drama involving the likes of Amber Gill, Faye Winter and Callum Jones and, insiders are claiming this year's is the worst fraught to date.

And things got so emotional in the villa, with some of the girls heartbroken by their partner's betrayal, that Maya too was reduced to tears. Over the last few nights, Wil, Ayo, Tre and Sean have all kissed some of the new girls, meaning that upset could be on the cards for Uma, Mimi, Jess and Matilda, although Jess is least likely given that she too has been doing some moving on of her own.

Speaking to Mail Online, a source said: "Maya feels connected to the Islanders... she struggled to hide her emotion during filming of the Casa Amor re-coupling. It was tough for her to see the reaction from some of the girls, who were shocked to discover the level of betrayal demonstrated by their partner."

They added: "Some of the couples had been together for a significant number of weeks so it was particularly painful for those to reunite under different circumstances. t was one of the most dramatic Love Island episodes ever filmed, so much so, bosses had to extend the show.'
