Coleen Rooney has revealed that she is standing by her husband Wayne after weeks of speculation about the state of their marriage.

The WAG finally broke her silence about the footballer in a lengthy Facebook post on Friday, admitting that while he had made “silly and selfish mistakes”, they had never split.

The candid public posts comes months after the Everton striker was stopped for drink driving while in a car with another woman, leading to a two-year driving ban and a 12-month community order.

“Before all the stories begin, Yes, I have put my wedding ring on....... A lot of people will be saying "you don't have to explain yourself, don't feel like you have to do this" etc,I know I don't, but I am and I want to,” she started.

“It didn't feel right wearing my ring, I see it as a sign of commitment and I was unsure what was happening. I don't always wear my ring day to day, especially when I go the gym which is where I get stalked by paps each morning. So, if I don't always have it on, maybe it's just because am going the gym or haven't put it on before the school run!!”

Rooney went on to say that she didn’t want anybody to “feel sorry” for her in the wake of the incident as she is a “strong person” who isn’t even feeling sorry for herself.

Dispelling speculation that the couple had split for good, Rooney revealed that Wayne had “never left” the family and they are working through their marriage problems together.

“Before the headlines start.... No, I’m not taking Wayne back as he's never left. Yes, it has been a s*** time, and yes, time was spent apart and I thought my marriage might have been at an end,” she said.

While Rooney went on to say that her husband “doesn’t get portrayed for the person he is”, she didn’t think he deserved for her to list his good qualities.

She said: “I’m not going to list his good qualities as a person as I don't think he deserves it at this time but one thing is that he is a brilliant dad. He's made silly and selfish mistakes, some he's learnt from, some obviously not. However maybe that will change?”

Rooney seemed to defend his actions in part by saying that he can change “drastically” when he’s had too much alcohol.

“In life, you don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. But one thing I do know is that too much alcohol on a night out is a dangerous and a lot of stupid mistakes are made and things are said under the influence,” she said.

“I would never trust ANYONE who has had a lot of alcohol, it changes some people drastically.”

She continued: “It's my decision .... do I love Wayne ... yes I do.

“If I didn't then I wouldn't be trying to make it work. I know I would be fine on my own, with just me and my children, but I don't want to live like that, I want to try and continue our marriage and live as a family, because that’s what I want to do.

“I’m not saying everything is fine and forgotten about, but we are as good as can be at this point, I’m not the type of person to put a show on and say we’re all loved-up….I’m just real.”
