Ludacris Says He'll 'Definitely' Release New Music in 2024 After 'Taking a Step Back' and 'Living Some Life'

"When you put out music, in order for it to be organic and real, you gotta talk about what goes on in your life," said Ludacris in a new interview

It's almost time for new Ludacris tunes.

In a new interview with BET.com, the Grammy-winning rapper revealed he plans to put new music out in 2024 and reflected on retreating from releasing albums since 2015's Ludaversal to spend time "living some life."

"Some music projects will be coming out next year," said Ludacris, 46, before explaining the new material isn't quite ready yet. "I don't wanna fake, I don't wanna stutter-step. I don't wanna be like [André] 3000 and say, I got an album coming out. I don’t know."

However, fans shouldn't worry. "It's definitely some music coming next year, but I don't know if it's like an EP or an LP," added the "My Chick Bad" performer. "We’re going to figure it out."

Ludacris opened up about why it's taken him eight years to release a new full-length album. In short, he's been busy as ever.

"These movie projects like Fast & Furious and doing a lot of things like the Karma’s World project that's on Netflix," said the "Area Codes" rapper, who also acts in the new Disney+ holiday film Dashing Through the Snow.

"You know, doing other art forms where I’m creative, where I'm putting my heart into that, I want to make sure that I leave a legacy on this earth. So it was just taking a step back and getting hungry again, living some life," added Ludacris.

For the musician, actor and father of four — daughters Karma, 22, Cai, 9, Cadence, 8, and Chance, 2 — there's a pressure that comes along with sharing new material, especially after more than 20 years in the game.

"'Cause when you put out music, in order for it to be organic and real, you gotta talk about what goes on in your life," said Ludacris. "So if I had, like, nine consistent albums, sometimes you gotta take a step back and live some life so that you have a lot more to talk about, and that's what I was doing."

At this point, though, he can't make any promises about the new music's sound or lyrical material. "It's a little premature to answer that because I'm working on a lot of stuff," Ludacris teased.
