It's a Christmas miracle, Colin the Caterpillar fans, as the popular M&S cake has had a festive makeover – and Colin's looking truly fetching in his red Santa hat.

While the cake is comprised of the same ingredients as the standard version – chocolate sponge roll, filled with chocolate buttercream, covered in milk chocolate – Christmas Colin comes decorated with red presents and festive candy canes.

And of course, let us not forget the aforementioned hat.

The cake, which serves 10, is part of M&S' Christmas food collection range which is available for order now, although Colin is currently out of stock online.

And wait for it – there's also a mince pie alternative for those averse to dried fruit, and it comes in the form of a Percy Pig Percymas pie.

M&S says: "These fun alternative mince pies combine tasty shortcrust pastry with a fruity filling and a Percy Pig flavoured sponge, topped with Percy Pig-flavoured fondant icing. The cherry on the cake? Percy himself, of course."

Marks and Spencer's lavish Christmas food range also includes a Star-Studded Sausage Roll Garland Stack, a Mushroom & Camembert Pie, and 4 Dressed Lobster Halves.

They have added 14 new lines to the range including more vegetarian and vegan lines than ever before. This year's must haves include the Battered Mini Sausages 'chip shop style', Chicken Doughnut Dippers and Plant Kitchen Mini No Chicken Kievs. The canapes in year's collection cook at the same temperature with little to no prep, and are also suitable for freezing – meaning those looking to get ahead with their prep this Christmas can.

April Preston, Director of Product Development, said: "This year, customers have been telling us they want to embrace the spirit of Christmas more than ever. We won’t want to confine Christmas to one day, we'll be looking to extend the festive season and turn it into a series of moments, celebrating with loved ones in whatever way we can.

"Christmas isn't a time our customers want to hold back, and food will continue to play a central part in their celebrations. Some of the festivities may look a bit different, some might even be virtual, but they will be more special than ever as we treat, thank, celebrate and unite with friends and family."
