Director M Night Shyamalan has announced that he will be making a sequel to his hit films Unbreakable and Split.

Confirming his plans on Twitter, the filmmaker revealed that Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson and James McAvoy were all on board for the new project.

Titled Glass, the new film will tie together the 2000 film and this year’s horror hit, which were revealed to have been set in the same universe.

Announcing the news on Twitter, Shyamalan wrote: “It’s taken 17 years but I can finally answer the #1 question I get, “Are you making a f#&@ing sequel to Unbreakable or what?

“My new film is the sequel to #Unbreakable AND #Split. It was always my dream to have both films collide in this third film.”

Confirming the stellar cast for the film, which is set for release at the beginning of 2019, Shyamalan continued: “The iconic Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn.

“The incomparable @SamuelLJackson will return as Elijah Price/Mr. Glass. The virtuoso #JamesMcAvoy returns as Kevin Wendell Crumb, Patricia, Dennis, Hedwig, Barry, Jade, Orwell, The Beast, Heinrich, Norma, Pol-

“And the prodigy, @AnyaTaylorJoy will return as Casey Cooke.”

He added: “Universal Pictures will release #Glass on January 18, 2019 all over the world. How’s that for not keeping a secret!”

Universal has since released a statement, which reads: “Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.”
