Italy is short on healthcare workers, but its jobs are closed to most immigrants

Italy is fighting its second wave of Covid-19, and it’s worse than the first. For years, the country has faced a shortage of healthcare workers (link in Italian), and the pandemic is making the situation worse. According to the unions representing healthcare workers, the Covid-19 emergency has left the country with a shortage of as many as 73,000 health workers.
