M25 delays: Dramatic lorry fire shuts motorway at rush hour causing major delays
Motorists faced hours of delays after a major lorry fire shut the M25.
The motorway was shut in both directions at junction 17, near Rickmansworth, at about 7.30 on Tuesday evening.
Traffic was diverted up and over the junction as flames and thick smoke billowed from a burning truck.
Police said there were "massive delays" in both directions but added that nobody was seriously injured.
The truck caught fire on the anti-clockwise carriageway, which was expected to remain shut until early on Wednesday morning.

Highway England said: "Traffic is currently being diverted up and over (via the exit and entry slip roads) on the #M25 anti-clockwise at J17 #Heronsgate #A405 due to an HGV fire. Delays on both carriageways due to smoke drifting across the road."
The lorry caught fire after hitting a car and overturning, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said.
