Macaulay Culkin could not resist trolling his fans as he turned 40, announcing he had reached the milestone and teasing: “Wanna feel old?”
The actor – who found fame as a child star in films such as Home Alone and Richie Rich – reached the big 4-0 this week and posted a playful series of messages on Twitter about it.
Quipping that it would probably make his fans feel their age, he teased: “Hey guys, wanna feel old?
“I'm 40. You're welcome.”

He went on: “It's my gift to the world: I make people feel old.
“I'm no longer a kid, that's my job.”
Culkin also joked that now he was 40 it was “about time to start my midlife crisis” and said he thought he might begin by taking up surfing.
“Do any of you have photoshop skill? Can you put my head on a surfer so I can get an idea of how cool I'd look?” he asked.
The star’s posts amused his followers, and many admitted he was spot on about making them feel their age.
“I’m 39 and was a Home Alone nut!! And you just made me feel ancient!” posted one fan, while another tweeted: “Nooooooooooooo!!!”
“Ouch, that hurt!” posted another person, while one asked: “You're 40?!?!? Jesus, then what does that make me???!!!”
Another fan quipped: “You crack me up Mac, but every Christmas of every year you go back to being an 8y/o boy fighting the bad guys, it's like a cross between peter pan and ground hog day.”
Culkin found fame as a little boy who gets left at home when his family go on holiday in 1990’s Home Alone, and he reprised the role in a sequel two years later.
His other films include Richie Rich, My Girl and The Good Son.
He took a break after a string of projects in the early 90s but returned to acting after a few years away from the cameras.
His next role will be in the 10th season of American Horror Story.
