Madonna Turns Up FOUR Hours Late To Melbourne Gig, Dresses As A Clown And Dedicates Emotional Song To Son Rocco

Madonna has recently been making a habit out of arriving (not so) casually late to her performances.

Last week, ticket holders at her gig in New Zealand had to wait an additional one-and-a-half hours past the estimated start time.

Now, the Queen of Pop has set a new record – According to fans tweeting from Melbourne’s Forum Theatre last night, concertgoers were only allowed to enter the theatre shortly before midnight – nearly FOUR hours later than scheduled.

Talk about anticipation! Nevermind though, Madge did make her grand entrance eventually…

The 57-year-old, who is locked in a bitter battle with ex-hubby Guy Ritchie over their 15-year-old son, arrived on the stage riding a child’s tricycle and dressed as a colourful clown.

The gig, titled ‘Tears of a Clown’, had been an unscheduled stop during her Rebel Heart Tour. The performer reportedly gave the tickets away for free and promised a night of comedy, story telling and music.

So, while her outfit was in keeping with the theme of the show, she did worringly tell the crowd that she was dressed as a clown because “to me they symbolise heartbreak.”

She continued: “There is something tragic about clowns because they try so hard to make you laugh and smile.

“They are obviously covering up something, there is something going on inside. What do you think is going on inside of me?”

A first in Madonna performance history occurred when she allegedly told the bemused audience: “One thing I’m going to do here tonight that I’ve never done before when singing is drink.”

She had been sipping on drinks during the show but later exclaimed: “I’m not supposed to be asking for alcohol right now but, Jesus Christ, get me some drink.”

Whether it was all part of the bizarre act remains to be seen but it certainly seemed to concern the fans in attendance.

Moving on to the singing segments of the show, Madonna introduced the song ‘Intervention’, which has the opening line “I got to save my baby”, using a large photo of Rocco as a backdrop.

It is believed that Queen M shared an emotional plea, whereby she allegedly said about her son: “I probably would have enjoyed myself a bit more on this tour if he hadn’t have disappeared so suddenly. I’m going to dedicate this song to him.”

Madonna and Ritchie split in 2008 after eight years of marriage. More recently, the pair have been engaged in a custody battle over their son Rocco.

It began when Rocco refused to return to New York from his father’s London home after Christmas. Last week the court agreed that the teenager could tentatively stay in the UK until his parents could sort out their differences.

Yesterday, Rocco attended a private hearing at London’s High Court with Guy and his new wife Jacqui Ainsley in a bid to determine the child’s future.

It seems probable that this recent set of events fuelled Madonna’s offbeat show last night but despite an emotional performance, fans praised her – with many hoping that her upset over Rocco would not last.
