It feels like a while since we first learned that Maggie was pregnant with Glenn's baby on The Walking Dead, but there's been no sign of when she'll be giving birth.

Will season eight be the time when Lauren Cohan's popular character has the child?

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Scott Gimple was pretty straightforward on whether fans should expect it to happen.

"We shouldn't," he said.

"[Her pregnancy is] quite early in, as it was in the book."

Given that the entirety of the seventh season takes place across just 19 days (says exec Denise Huth), it makes sense.

"I always want to put a little ticker tape along the bottom of the episode saying how far into the apocalypse and into the pregnancy we are," Cohan joked. "Because I'm playing newly pregnant for a really long time.

"But the truth of the matter is, it's only been a matter of weeks since Negan killed Glenn."

The confirmation that we won't see Maggie giving birth this season also appears to have revealed one more detail about season eight.

In the comics, there's a time jump after the All Out War. You can read more about it here if you want to read some spoilery details, but it seems this season may go the same way if Old Man Rick in the trailer is any indication.

Comics readers know that Maggie's baby is born during the time jump.

So if Maggie does not give birth this season, it likely means that the All Out War will last the entire season.

The Walking Dead launches its eighth season on October 22 on AMC in the US and October 23 on FOX in the UK.
