A "magical" wedding and retreat venue has been put on the market as its owner prepares for her next adventure.

After 15 years at the helm of North Shire in Liverton, Saltburn, owner Carol Cavendish has decided to bid farewell to the firm. The mother-of-five has been in business since she was 17 and says she has loved her time at North Shire.

She said: "I'm ready for a new adventure. I've built it, I've made a lot of people happy and I'm really proud of everything we've achieved and the awards we've won. It's been amazing but I'm ready for something new.

"I think it's ready for fresh hands. It's been very successful, it's been in National Geographic and magazines and TV all over the world, I've done it with bells on and it's been a pleasure and an honour to have been part of the experience with the team."

The venue could be yours for £1,250,000 and is famously known for its ornate and unique accommodation. It includes,

Hagrid's Hut

(groundskeepers’ cottage), The Gryffindor dormitory, a chateau that can sleep up to ten, A hobbit's hut, seven shepherd's huts, and five Pitches for static caravans.

On site there is also a three bedroom owner's cottage which allows an owner operator to live on site and oversee operations. North Shire is on the market with Parker Barras and is situated in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

It boasts a huge fairy tale themed wedding barn which can fit and accommodate up to 450 wedding guests. The listing reads: "North Shire based in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park is much more than your ordinary wedding/staycation venue, it is as it describes ‘a magical place for holidays and adventures’.

"The North Shire has been subject to lots of positive press since its one-of-a-kind inception, featuring on the BBC, the Times 50 best cottages in Britain, TripAdvisor's Travelers Choice Awards alongside many more.

"Over 95,000 social media followers across Facebook and Instagram, there is huge scope to tap further into this market and further increase occupancy levels."

Carol, 44, described the business as an "life-changing opportunity" and said North Shire has a lot to offer, she said: "It's an amazing opportunity. The best thing about the business is making people happy, it has a lot to offer for the right people. It's a life-changing opportunity and will make the new buyers very happy I'm sure."

The owner said she has several "top secret" business plans in place and is looking to the future. You can view the listing here.
