Maisie Smith and Max George both appeared slightly taken aback when asked about marriage as they revealed their first-ever joint move. The couple, who met on Strictly Come Dancing, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Monday (April 15) as they revealed they'll soon be working together.

It's been announced ther former EastEnders star Maisie and The Wanted singer Max will be playing the married couple Parson Nathaniel & wife Beth, in the iconic Jeff Wayne's The War of The Worlds ‘The Spirit of Man' arena tour in 2025.

The announcement unleashes a series of ‘firsts', as audience members will hear Maisie sing for the first time and Max act for the first time on stage - as well as this being a monumental first for The War of The Worlds, as Jeff Wayne casts a real-life couple into this marriage of Nathaniel and Beth.

The role of Nathaniel has previously been played by Jason Donovan and Blue's Duncan James, whilst Steps' Claire Richards and singer Kerry Ellis have filled the past roles of Beth in early Jeff Wayne live productions of TWOTW.

"The moment I met Max & Maisie I knew they were the perfect fit for the role of Nathaniel and Beth," Jeff Wayne commented. "Maisie has such a melodic but powerful voice, which compliments Max's dramatic vocals wonderfully. Plus, being a couple in real life will add to their on-stage charisma and chemistry, and I'm delighted they've joined the 2025 The Spirit of Man Tour as husband and wife."

As Maisie, 22, and Max, 35, shared their excitement over their new venture on GMB, Ed Balls jumped in to ask Max and Maisie if they had been "practising" for their theatre roles - leaving Maisie visibly confused. "Did you practise in advance? To be married?" he awkwardly asked the couple.

Looking confused, Maisie began to laugh before exclaiming: "To be married?!" Max appeared to share his girlfriend's confusion, and he stated: "I mean we live with each other and argue." Maisie then interrupted, saying: "We spend enough time to probably know what it's like."

Max then tried to steer the interview back to the topic of the theatre production as he continued to share how excited he and Maisie both are to take to the stage together. Max has previously addressed plans for the pair, who met while competing on Strictly in 2020 before romance blossomed in 2022, to tie the knot.

"I can tell you now that me and Maisie won’t be getting married yet and she would tell you that too," Max exclusively told Ladbrokes LIVE earlier this year. "We are both really hungry for work and focussed on our careers. So weddings aren’t something we are thinking about. We love being together but that is on the long finger."
