Of course, we’re still sad (okay, devastated) that Game of Thrones will be ending after Seasons 7 and 8, but we feel a bit better after seeing what 19-year-old Maisie Williams had to say about it to Variety.

We know and love her as Arya Stark — she may have started out as a blind beggar, but now she’s more renowned as a Stark CIA agent,” said Williams. She’s also an Emmy nominee, let’s not forget!

And you probably remember Williams’s tweets the other day after she read Season 7, where she tweeted things like:

And:

She didn’t give away any spoilers, but she did make us want Season 7 to be here right now. (But alas, we have to wait till next summer.)

Now, as we cry into our keyboards just trying to write about GOT and its impending end, in an interview with Variety, Williams simply and pragmatically said:

“It’s time to wrap this up.”

She was commenting on the shorter-than-usual Season 7, which will have just seven episodes. She told Variety:

“Good things must come to an end or they’re not good anymore. It doesn’t last forever and we’ve done what we came to do, it’s time to wrap this up, and it will have the ending it was always supposed to have, and that’s very special.”

As for how Williams feels about the shorter season?

“This show makes a lot of money, and it would be easy for HBO to be like ‘we’re gonna do four more seasons and we’re gonna extend them to 12 episodes.’ I really respect David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] for holding their ground and for HBO to be like “no… we’re gonna tell this story and we’re gonna end it and that’ll be final.”

***Warning: Potential Season 6 spoiler alert below.***

As you probably know, to the surprise of none of us, Season 6 was action-packed. You know, Queen Cersei is now seated on the Iron Throne and Daenerys is busy sailing westward with dragons, Dothraki, and Ironborn friends following.

The Stark clan seems to be on the up and up, and Arya even got to put an end to Walder Frey (David Bradley), which fans were excited about. And so was she.

“I was so thrilled. Honestly so thrilled,”

Williams told Variety. “Everyone, from all departments, said, ‘You have got the best kill of any kill ever. I don’t think there’s a single person in the world that won’t be thrilled that Walder Frey is gone.’ So it felt very, very good.”

How can GOT’s Season 7 top all that?!

After Season 7, there will be a 6-to-8-episode final season, Season 8. But we refuse to think about that yet.

In the meantime, we’ll keep cheering Arya on.
