Man accused of town centre stabbing appears in court

AN ISLE of Wight man accused of stabbing another man in Shanklin last week will go before a judge later this year.

Aaron David Caley, of Pellhurst Road, Ryde, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Monday, June 24.

The 36-year-old is charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife, blade, or sharp pointed article in a public place.

He did not enter a plea and saw his case adjourned to July 29 at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.

On Friday, June 21, police were called to a serious assault on Shanklin High Street at around 6.20pm.

It was reported a man in his 50s had been stabbed, suffering a puncture wound to his back and a cut on his arm.

He was immediately taken by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to St Mary's Hospital.
