A man has appeared in court charged with murder after an alleged "stabbing" in Stockton.

Adam Mackintosh, 27, appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Friday following a reported incident on Wrensfield Road on Wednesday.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the street around 6.40pm after a 23-year-old man suffered serious injuries. He later died in hospital.

Mackintosh, of Coral Grove, Thornaby, did not enter a plea while at the Middlesbrough court. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance at Teesside Crown Court on July 2.

As previously reported, a huge cordon was erected across Stainmore Close following the alleged incident, with pictures showing several police officers guarding the blue and white tape.

Crime scene investigators were later captured probing the street, placing evidence markers on the ground and taking photographs.

A separate cordon was also set up on Coral Grove - and later confirmed to be linked by police.

Officers will remain in the area over the coming days as enquiries continue.
