Man arrested after attempted rape on girl, 14, in Sheffield woodland

A man has been arrested after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in a woodland in Sheffield earlier this week.

According to South Yorkshire Police, it is reported that a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted as she walked through the Tongue Gutter area, near Deerlands Avenue at around 3.50pm on Thursday (June 27).

Today (Saturday, June 29), a 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted rape in connection to the incident. He remains in police custody.

Local neighbourhood officers remain in the area and the public are being urged to speak to them if they have any concerns.
