Man arrested after stabbing in Grimsby's Boulevard Park

A man has been arrested after a stabbing at a Grimsby park at the weekend.

Police were called to Boulevard Park shortly before 9.15pm on Sunday (June 9) after receiving reports a man had been stabbed in the vicinity of Duke Of York Gardens, near to Richard Street. The man was then taken to hospital for treatment having suffered stab wounds to his side and back.

A police cordon was in place overnight and through Monday as officers investigated the incident. A 31-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Today, Inspector Gary Johnson, of Humberside Police, who is leading the investigation, said: “Following multiple lines of enquiry over the last few days, a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. I want to offer my reassurance that we believe this to be an isolated incident between individuals known to each other.

“A scene guard was in place at Boulevard Park, and whilst this has now been lifted, local residents can expect to be an increase in policing presence in the area. I would encourage anyone with information, or anyone with concerns, to please come and speak to us.
