Man attacked at car boot sale near Sutton Coldfield as police seek to identify three people

A man suffered a nasty head injury after he was attacked at a car boot sale. Police are seeking to identify three men who are believed to be involved in the incident.

Warwickshire Police said the serious assault happened at the car boot sale on Haunch Lane, in Lea Marston, near Sutton Coldfield, at 8.45am, today Sunday, May 12. Police said that it was reported a 42-year-old man was punched to the head.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Michael Brennen, said : “This was a nasty incident which has seen the victim sustain a serious head injury. While no arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing to identify three men who are believed to have been involved.

“We know there would have been a lot of people at this car boot sale this morning who potentially will have seen the incident and I would urge them to get in touch as they may have vital information that could help with our enquiries.

“The suspects are believed to have left in a vehicle, so I would also appeal to anyone who may have dash cam footage of the vehicle leaving the car boot.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call 101 or report this to us via the police's website quoting incident number 108 of May 12, 2024. Information can also be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously via their website or on 0800 555 111.
