Man who carried machete on Cleethorpes street is sentenced - Grimsby court round-up

A man carrying a machete in a public place, an offender who breached a restraining order multiple times and a whole host of shop thieves have been sentenced in recent days at Grimsby Magistrates' Court.

While some cases were adjourned to a later date and others sent to Grimsby Crown Court, magistrates in Grimsby still handed out prison sentences, community orders and hefty fines to criminals from across northern Lincolnshire.

Here are several people who have been sentenced at Grimsby Magistrates' Court in the last fortnight.

Harry Siddons, 18, of Douglas Road, Cleethorpes indicated a plea of guilty to the possession of a knife in a public place, namely a machete on Douglas Road. He was given a community order with an electronic tag and curfew and ordered to pay a £114 victim services surcharge and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Christopher James, 30, of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to four counts of harassment in which he breached a restraining order by attending the address of the victim on multiple occasions. He was jailed for 12 weeks.

Nicholas Scott, 34, of Dover Street, Grimsby pleaded guilty to 13 counts of theft from a shop in which he stole £370 worth of products from Poundland, Absolut vodka worth £132 from Asda, Mini Eggs worth £122 from Tesco, confectionary worth £70 from Asda and many other items of an unknown value. He was given a 12-month suspended sentence order with a drug rehabilitation requirement and ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Ryan McDonald, 36, of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to six counts of theft from a shop in which he stole £132 worth of perfume from Boots, confectionary and chocolate worth £180 from B&M, laundry products worth £95 from B&M and laundry products worth £33 from Farmfoods. He was jailed for eight weeks.

Scott Gregory, 37, of Eleanor Street, Grimsby pleaded guilty to three counts of theft from a shop in which he stole hair straighteners and a hair dryer worth £60 from The Range, Smirnoff vodka worth £38 from Asda and an air fryer worth £35 from Asda. He also pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating against a person at The Range. He was given an 18-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £26 victim services surcharge.

Jack Pearce, 28, of Barcroft Street, Cleethorpes pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence and to criminal damage in which he damaged a door. He also indicated a plea of guilty to the possession of cannabis. He was ordered to pay £500 in compensation, a fine of £400, a victim services surcharge of £160 and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Claire Bullivent, 34, of Town Street, Immingham pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating and one count of theft from a shop. She was given a 12-month suspended sentence order.

Patrick Tizzard, 52, of Brereton Avenue, Cleethorpes pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating against an emergency worker, namely a police constable. He was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £26 victim services surcharge.
