Man charged with GBH after police officer stabbed in Enfield

A man has been charged with GBH after a police officer was stabbed in north London. James Moore, 30, from Aldgate is due to appear before Willesden Magistrates on Wednesday.

The officer was stabbed as he responded to reports of a man with a knife on Mandeville Road, Enfield, at just before 4.30pm on Tuesday.

He was given emergency first aid at the scene. He was then taken to hospital where he remains his condition is described as stable.

Moore faces a total of five counts including GBH, possession of a knife, possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin and possession of cannabis.A police statement said: “The charges follow an incident at 16:25hrs on Tuesday, 16 April, when an officer from Enfield was stabbed as he responded to reports of a man with a knife on Mandeville Road.“The injured officer was immediately supported by police colleagues who administered first aid. He was taken to hospital where he remains receiving treatment; his condition is stable.”

Commander Owain Richards said: “The actions of this officer demonstrates the best of the Met, showing bravery in dealing with an extremely dangerous situation. It also reminds us of the challenges our officers face each day while doing their duty to protect the public.”
