Joao Cancelo is reportedly a 'priority' signing for Barcelona amid uncertainty over his future at Manchester City.

Cancelo has spent the last year on loan with the La Liga giants after falling down the pecking order and with Pep Guardiola. Prior to his Barcelona loan, he had spent the previous six months at Bayern Munich.

While the Portuguese full-back is believed to favour a move back to Camp Nou, Barca are not in a financial position to buy him and another loan move would be more viable. Mundo Deportivo claims that he is a 'priority' for the Catalan side and Barca continue to work with agent Jorge Mendes to secure another loan move.

However, with Cancelo unlikely to be in Guardiola's plans for the new season, City are thought to prefer to sanction a permanent transfer. He is also said to be subject of interest for clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Elsewhere, AS Roma are said to be favourites to sign out-of-favour Sergio Gomez this summer. A number of clubs are interested in his signature and Real Sociedad are thought to have previously approached City as they look for a replacement for Kieran Tierney.

However, Spanish outlet Relevo (via Football Italia) now state that Roma have moved ahead of competition.

It remains to be seen what Guardiola's plans for the Spanish defender are ahead of next season, despite him expressing his wish to stay at the Etihad. When asked about his future, Gomez previously said: "I haven’t talked to him [Guardiola] about the next season, but I want to stay there.

"I’m going to go from the first day of the preseason with a lot of desire to show him that I can have more minutes. The idea is to stay there. It is my wish."
