Man who fathered at least six children with daughter and raped grandchild jailed for 40 years

A man who fathered at least six children with one of his daughters and raped his own grandchild has been jailed.

The man, who cannot be named to protect his victims’ identity, was found guilty of repeatedly raping two of his daughters at home and in his car over the course of 20 years.

He also repeatedly raped a girl one of his daughters gave birth to as a result.

He showed no emotion as he was sentenced to 33 years in prison, with a further seven years on extended licence.

According to the BBC, Judge Paul Thomas QC told him: "Your behaviour was totally evil.”

During a three-week trial at Swansea Crown Court, a jury heard how the defendant “groomed” his daughters by sending them instructions through what they believed was a psychic app, telling them to have sex with him and other men.

He also arranged for a friend of his to rape one of the daughters while he watched from the doorway, the court was told.

DNA tests prove he fathered at least six children with his daughter, including the girl he went on to abuse, according to the BBC.

The man claimed he had been blackmailed by his daughters and the sex was consensual because he was not aware they were his own children, the broadcaster reports.

But he was convicted of 36 counts of rape as well as one count of assault by penetration and jailed on Friday.

Judge Thomas previously said it was in the top three worst cases he had ever had to deal with in his 40-year career.

He told the man: “What you did to your family over a period of around 20 years plumbed the depths of depravity.

"You have left your victims, your daughters, with their lives in pieces.

"You raped them countless times, well into the hundreds.

"You took advantage of their extreme vulnerability caused by their age and circumstances and abused them cynically, mercilessly, evilly.”
