Man Held After 'Nice Guy' Stabbed To Death

Police investigating the killing of a 17-year-old in north London have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

Vasilaki Kakko, from Newington Green, was stabbed to death in Yoke Close, Holloway, last week.

He was the 14th teenager to die in such a way this year in the capital.

Metropolitan Police said a man, believed to be 20, was taken into custody at a Sussex police station on suspicion of murder.

A post-mortem examination at Whittington Hospital revealed Vasilaki suffered a stab wound to the neck.

Officers were called to the scene of the attack at about 8.50pm on Monday 23 November, but the teenager was pronounced dead at the site half an hour later.

Vasilaki's brother, Bruno Kakko, 25, told the Evening Standard: "He was just a lovely, nice guy who was always happy and smiley and loved playing around a lot.

"He was always very generous to his friends and family."

Knife crime offences resulting in injury across London have risen by 270 cases over 12 months - from 2,524 between January and September 2014, to 2,794 this year.
