Police found no visible injuries on the man who killed Angie Harmon's dog over Easter weekend.

Oliver, a German shepherd and beagle mix, died after he was shot and killed by an Instacart delivery driver, who told officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department that he acted in self-defense.

A spokesperson from the department told PEOPLE that while the man, identified as Christopher Reid in the police report, told officers he was attacked, authorities did not find any visible injuries on him.

"Our officers investigated the incident thoroughly and ultimately decided not to pursue charges," the spokesperson added. “The police are not seeking additional parties. The case is now closed.”

CMPD’s Animal Care and Control also responded to the scene on Saturday, March 30.

Harmon, 51, also said the man admitted shooting her “precious” canine, but police let him go because “he claimed self-defense.”

In a previous statement shared with PEOPLE, officers said the man defended himself from the alleged dog attack by "firing a single gunshot, striking and mortally wounding the dog."

While sharing the news of Oliver's death in an Instagram post on Monday, April 1, Harmon, 51, said the gunshot was fired after the man "got out of his car" and "delivered the food."

“He did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn," said Harmon.

The Law & Order alum ended her post by expressing that her family was left "completely traumatized & beyond devastated at the loss of our beloved boy & family member."

Harmon echoed the same sentiments in an Instagram Stories post that same day, expressing that the man's actions were "despicable and inexcusable."

"The fact that someone could commit such a heartless act is beyond comprehension to me, and I'm devastated that I didn't get to say goodbye to him," her post added.

Two days later, she shared an inspirational quote with her Instagram followers, encouraging them not to "give up."
