Man 'moved sofa against wall and set it on fire' in Grimsby

A man is alleged to have moved a sofa against a wall outside a block of flats in Grimsby before setting it on fire.

Officers from Humberside Fire and Rescue and Humberside Police were called to the block of flats at Munster Court, in Bath Street, in the early hours of Wednesday morning following reports that a fire had begun outside the property.

Bret Fox, 31, of Munster Court, has now been charged with arson with intent to endanger life, and has been remanded into custody to appear at Grimsby Magistrates' Court today.


A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "We received a call at around 12.20am to reports that a man allegedly moved a sofa against a wall outside a block of flats on Munster Court before setting the sofa alight."

The Humberside Fire and Rescue incident log reads: "Sofa fire. One hose reel in use to extinguish sofa situated outside of the property. Fire damage caused to property window due to close proximity of sofa to property. Incident left with Police. Safe and well completed."
