Man Rescued by Helicopter From Dangerous Surf Powered by Cyclone Gita

Surf Life Saving Queensland volunteers rescued a man from dangerous surf conditions on Sunday, February 18, after he came off his jetski.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, dangerous conditions across New South Wales’ east coast and also Queensland were to be expected, with anglers, surfers, swimmers and boaties receiving warnings.

Waves powered by former Tropical Cyclone Gita, which swept past Samoa, Tonga and New Caledonia earlier this month, could top 3.5 metres when they reach Australia’s eastern seaboard, according to SBS. Credit: Surf Life Saving QLD via Storyful
