Man rushed to hospital after being stabbed in street

A man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed as he walked in the street.

Merseyside Police confirmed officers were first contacted at 3.35pm yesterday, Thursday, June 20 to reports a man in his 50s was stabbed in the leg outside a property on Gloucester Road, Huyton. He was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The male suspect, described as in his 20s with blonde hair and wearing blue shorts, ran off from the scene in the direction of Warwick Road. An investigation into the stabbing is underway, with detectives carrying out house-to-house and CCTV enquiries in the local area.

Detective Inspector Steve Byrom said: "The use of knives on our streets is extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated. Day in, day out, our officers conduct warrants, stop checks, land searches and other proactive activity to help us take knives out of circulation and put before the courts those offenders prepared to store, carry and use them.

"We're keen to hear from anyone with information about this incident. If you live in this area, please check your CCTV cameras or other devices to see if you captured anything that could assist our ongoing investigation."
