Man seriously injured and three others hurt in Birmingham crash

A man was seriously injured and three more hurt after a two-car crash at a Birmingham junction. It happened at the junction of the A41, Highgate Road and Ladypool Road in Sparkbrook just after midnight today, Tuesday, June 25.

Emergency services rushed to the scene with West Midlands Ambulance Service sending three ambulances, two paramedic officers and a Medical Emergency Response Intervention Team trauma doctor, with a critical care paramedic.

Crews found four patients, including a man with serious injuries and a woman with ‘potentially serious injuries’. Two others, a man and a woman, suffered less serious injuries and a fifth person did not need hospital treatment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival we discovered two cars that had been in collision and five patients. One of whom, a man, was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

“A woman, who was treated for potentially serious injuries, was taken to the same hospital. Two further patients, a man and a woman, were treated for injuries not believed to be serious ahead of being taken to City Hospital. A fifth patient, a man, was assessed and discharged at the scene.”

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We were called to the junction of Highgate Road and Ladypool road in the early hours of Tuesday (June 25) morning after a two-car collision.

"Officers attended and helped the ambulance service at the scene. Anyone with information or dash cam footage should get in touch via Live Chat or 101 quoting log of 57 of Tuesday (June 22)."
