A man suffered critical injuries in an incident at a house in west Hull this morning.

A witness, who did not want to be named, said they heard a lot of shouting in Park Grove around the time of the incident. They did not see exactly what happened.

The witness described seeing police and ambulance staff treating a man at the scene. Police said he was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition.

Earlier today, Humberside Police put plastic over railings outside the house and Crime Scene Investigation officers attended. Park Grove remained open to traffic but there was cordon on the footpath.

CSI took photographs from the top-storey window and officers carried out door-to-door enquiries. Humberside Police said the scene guard has now been removed but their investigation continues and they still want witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Andy Crawforth said: "A scene guard was in place whilst officers carried out lines of enquiries to establish how the man came by his injuries. I can confirm this has now been removed.

"Our enquiries remain ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and may have seen anything that could assist with our enquiries, to contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 47 of 16 May."
